Quentin Geczy
Medical Student
Quentin Geczy is currently based in London. He attended Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, where he pursued his education. Afterward, he continued his academic journey at the University of Sydney Medical School, where he studied for two years. He is planning to complete his medical studies closer to home in Europe. In addition to his academic path, he is also exploring an entrepreneurial journey in consulting and finance, mainly focusing on healthcare.
While navigating the medical school application process, Quentin has remained actively engaged in health and education. He leads a thriving private education business that supports students in STEM subjects and helps with university admissions. He is also developing an online business selling educational courses and materials. These materials cater to students preparing for UK high school exams (GCSEs, A-Levels), medical exams (BMAT, UCAT, GAMSAT, MCAT), and the SAT.
Academic Background
After completing high school in Australia, he moved to the United States in 2016 to follow his interests in science and economics. He earned his Bachelor's in Molecular Cellular Development Biology (MCDB) and Economics from Yale University. His studies in Economics encompassed both macro and microeconomics, finance, and accounting. He also developed and worked with large datasets using R, employing theoretical models to tackle complex qualitative and quantitative problems. This education helped Quentin sharpen his ability to analyze complex systems and better understand resource management, decision-making under uncertainty, and human behavior.
His studies in MCDB served as an extension of his pre-med coursework. His thesis, titled “Psychedelic Renaissance in Psychiatry,” explored the mechanisms behind the 5-HT2A receptor's action, mainly how it interacts with serotonergic psychedelics to increase neuroplasticity. These insights are influencing modern mental health treatments for conditions like depression, anxiety, addiction, and PTSD.
Quentin’s dual discipline studies in Economics and MCDB gave him a unique educational foundation that blends evidence-based clinical reasoning, public health knowledge, and the communication skills needed to explain complex ideas to a broad audience.
While at Yale, Quentin also excelled as an athlete. He was a Division I Varsity Athlete and Lightweight Crew Eastern Sprints Champion and placed second at the USA U23 Lightweight Men’s Quad National Team Selection Regatta. Balancing elite athletics with a demanding academic schedule taught him valuable discipline, teamwork, resilience, and leadership lessons.
His Pursuit of Medicine
His interest in medicine began in his youth. At the age of thirteen, he fractured his femur in a cycling accident, which required extended rehabilitation. During his recovery, he gained firsthand experience with the profound impact of orthopedic care. In the years that followed, he faced further health challenges, including a serious cycling crash that resulted in a subdural hematoma, cervical spine fractures, and extensive dental trauma. While the accident ended his athletic career, it only deepened his admiration for the human body and the clinicians who facilitated his recovery.
After graduating from Yale, he attended the University of Sydney Medical School, which is ranked among the top 20 medical schools worldwide. Quentin’s clinical interests were Orthopedic Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and General Surgery. His academic exposure, research, and personal experiences as a patient and athlete shaped these interests.
During his two years at Sydney Medical School, Quentin completed all the necessary course requirements, culminating in his MD thesis, which was focused on “Demographic and Clinical Features of Patients Diagnosed with Achalasia.”
His clinical rotations took place at Royal North Shore Hospital and spanned a variety of specialties across both hospital and community settings. His Psychiatry & Addiction Medicine rotation provided exposure to consultation-liaison psychiatry, inpatient mental health care, drug and alcohol treatment, and community services. His critical care training also covered emergency medicine, anesthetics, trauma response, intensive care, and rapid intervention teams. He also gained hands-on experience in pulmonology, urology, and several surgical specialties, including neurosurgery and general surgery. Quentin's time in general practice involved patient history-taking, conducting physical exams, and assisting with daily clinical duties. His allied health rotations included interdisciplinary exposure to pharmacy, physiotherapy, speech pathology, podiatry, psychology, and acupuncture, giving him a broad understanding of acute and chronic care across various patient populations.
In addition to his clinical work, Quentin volunteered as a researcher at Sydney Musculoskeletal Health, part of the Kolling Institute. He co-authored two published articles: "What is the most effective and safest Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug for treating osteoarthritis in patients with comorbidities?" and "Appraisal of Quality and Analysis of the Similarities and Differences between Osteoarthritis Clinical Practice Guideline Recommendations: A systematic review."
Quentin also gained early clinical experience working at Dr. Keith Bush's private clinic in London, the Royal Melbourne Hospital, and the Diakonissenkrankenhaus in Germany.
Quentin’s Private Tutoring and Education Consultancy Business
For the past five years, Quentin has provided private tutoring services in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. He has worked with gifted students preparing for the Biology & Chemistry Olympiads and helped numerous students prepare for various exams. In addition to tutoring, he has guided student-athletes through the complex process of recruiting for US Division I colleges, assisting them with school selection, cover letters, and application essays. Within six months of starting his business, he had accumulated a client base of 30 clients and maintained vigorous engagement with them, helping them secure successful university admissions.
Multilingual and Passionate About Health
Fluent in French, German, and English, he is a citizen of the United Kingdom, the United States, and Germany. In addition to his work in medicine, health, life sciences, and finance, Quentin remains dedicated to staying fit. He enjoys cycling, running, swimming, and skiing.
Quentin Geczy’s diverse background in science, healthcare, and education, as well as his entrepreneurial ventures, reflects his commitment to excellence in his academic and professional life. His ongoing endeavors demonstrate a strong desire to contribute to healthcare advancements and help students achieve their educational goals. He is building a well-rounded career that bridges health, education, and entrepreneurship through his private tutoring work, consulting, and finance ambitions.
